BEIT FARIS WA LUCIA 📍 BYBLOS
Located in the heart of Byblos, Beit Faris wa Lucia is a true gem of a guesthouse. It is a tribute to the late couple who lived there with their eight kids and there was never a key in the house. Their door was always open, this is how welcoming & loving they were. They always hosted and made their home a gathering place always open to friends, family, and neighbours. To keep their memory alive, this unique guesthouse is now owned by their daughter Najwa.
It was our anniversary and I really wanted to spend it somewhere near the sea and not somewhere fancy, but cool. In total, the guesthouse only has 5 rooms, 3 of which are very small. It also has a garden where you can spend some time resting or having breakfast. The largest room you can rent is an apartment itself, with a living room, 2 bedrooms, and even your own roof with an outstanding view of the old town of Byblos!
The house is quite old, as is the furniture, it has not been renovated much, but the location is exceptional as you sleep in the middle of a centuries-old history! It also has a garden where you can spend some time resting or having breakfast.
But I was only interested in the apartment, you can take it with 1 or 2 bedrooms. We took one bedroom. The breakfast is included in the room fee and it’s really good with Manouche, eggs, cheese, vegetables, and even orange juice. Here are some of the room fees:
- sunflower (small with a queen-size bed): 55$
- olive (medium, has a living room, 1200 years old, and next to the garden): 80$
- orange blossom (salon, kitchenette, balcony): 85$
- 1 room apartment (salon, kitchenette, private rooftop): 100$
- 2 rooms apartment: 125$
- full house: 445$
Rate: daily market rate.
The apartment had a living room with a mall TV and AC. A pretty big bathroom, small kitchen, cute bedroom, and the most amazing part, of course, OUR OWN ROOFTOP overlooking Byblos’s old town! The location is just awesome; a 1-minute walk from all the old-town restaurants and bars.
The guesthouse has some disadvantages though, like very old furniture and not very good hygiene. Another thing that was weird was that during our whole stay, there was only one woman to welcome us. She was very friendly and nice! But she was doing everything: showing us around, making us breakfast, cleaning the rooms after we left... which were quite clean, we didn't meet anyone else from the staff except her...
Overall, I loved our stay in Byblos. We stayed for 2 nights and went to Batroun every day to the beach. The main reason we picked this place is also that it’s pet-friendly! I recommend going there with family, and friends or enjoying a couples’ getaway. It is truly the perfect location!
