JAI 📍CLEMENCEAU
So, I think I just found not only a real hidden gem but probably the best Thai food in Lebanon.
We visited it for a late lunch, around 4 pm, and the place wasn't really full (now it will be even more so).
There are about 8 tables outside, as the place is very small, so inside there is only the kitchen. Which is also very cool, I love restaurants with an open kitchen, you can see how your food is prepared.
Jai Kitchen serves Asian, Thai, Chinese, and Indian dishes. We tried several items from the menu. We started by ordering the spinach and peanut salad, it tasted really good and they were very generous with the serving. We then ordered the prawn dumpling, and it was simply great.
Their summer Rolls were alright. We got the pad Thai noodles with shrimp, and it was not bad.
My personal favorite was the green chicken curry, this one was just delicious.
Unfortunately, there are some downsides to this place. The service could be improved. The food took a very long time to get to our table, and even though it wasn't very crowded, it was very slow.
They also told us to wait 15 minutes for dessert which was on the house after paying the bill. We waited 15 minutes, then they told us to wait another 15 minutes. We did not wait any longer and were disappointed that we wasted our time. Also, the waiter spilled soy sauce on our table when he was picking up our plates, but he didn't bother to clean up the sauce for a while until we asked him to do so. And what I don't like the most is that the bathroom is in the kitchen, literally…
Overall, while there were a few inconveniences, like spending two hours in this place because of slow service when we wanted to eat quickly, we really liked the authenticity of the place and the food. The price too! It's not easy to find good food at such an affordable price in Lebanon these days. I recommend going there with friends!
