ANU 📍CHEKKA
We visited Anu on Friday. The DJ played a mix of house, commercial, and Arabic music and the room was full. Let's start by saying that North Lebanon needed a place like this! Anu is a place with good music, amazing vibes, a charming crowd, and top-notch service. Not to mention the cool location - on the roof of the Nabu Museum.
ANU is a concept inspired by Mediterranean scenery and bohemian lifestyles. Each dish is made with nature as a muse to translate life's experiences into small moments. Therefore, we had to try some of the dishes from the menu. We started off by ordering white fish ceviche, it was super fresh and super delicious. We then had the lobster rolls which I personally like a lot, very juicy!
Tuna Tartar with Avocado puree, I didn’t like how tuna tasted and how it was smashed, as I prefer the tuna to be cut into bigger chops for Tartar. We then also ordered black cod, and here’s the thing… Maybe it's just me, but every time I order black cod, I expect it to taste like the black cod at Zuma or Nobu, which definitely serve it the best. At Anu's, the black cod tasted a little too fishy, so there's definitely room for improvement.
The place is owned by the same owners as Spine, but unlike Spine, at Anu, you have to order food and drinks. I think they could definitely improve their food since they want it to be more of a restaurant. We also tried the cocktails, they were okay, but not as impressive. They were either too sweet or too watery and light. I'm usually a very picky person, alright. Maybe some people would like these cocktails! I for one would settle for a glass of wine or gin and tonic. It's pricey and some of the dishes could be improved as mentioned above, but the service is something they scored on.
The employees at this place are respectful and show great hospitality. Keep it up. Another important thing to mention is the soap in the bathroom. As soon as I saw my favorite brand, Aesop, in the bathroom, I was immediately impressed! And the bathroom is very clean.
Overall, we really enjoyed our evening and will definitely be back. I highly recommend going there to enjoy a sunset, dinner with friends, or a romantic dinner.
