YASAMIN 📍 BATROUN
As you walk through the streets of Batroun's perfect souk, you will hear soft music and the smell of delicious Mediterranean food from Yasmin, Batroun’s new must-try destination.
It's a hidden gem, to find it you have to enter an old house and climb a few steps, then you will arrive at a restaurant that will charm you with its beautiful Lebanese-style interior.
We went there for a dinner and the place was already decorated for Valentine's Day, so the experience turned out to be very romantic, accompanied by nice romantic songs in the background!
They say the place’s cuisine is Mediterranean fusion, yet almost every dish we picked turned out to be Italian. Here is what we tried:
Beef carpaccio ($23) I really liked this appetizer, good quality meat sleeping on the cushion of celery puree.
Burrata (25$) fresh local burrata arrives disguised as a huge tomato, with impressive presentation, good taste, a bit ordinary, and a bit expensive for local cheese.
Risotto ai Fungi Porcini ($23) perfect taste, very rich in flavor with a strong emphasis on mushrooms, it was delicious and very filling.
Beef Pocket ($60) this is the most expensive dish on the menu, grilled beef prepared in a pocket and served with a truffle cream potato. This dish was extremely enjoyable.
For dessert, I recommend the jasmine rice pudding ($11) which is delicious. We also tried chocolate fondant (11$) it was alright not too special.
For drinks, I liked that they have a great collection of both imported and local wines.
Overall, we had a great time at this restaurant. It's also very romantic and perfect for a Valentine's Day dinner. It's a place you want to go back to and try more dishes. I love to review fine dining restaurants; I hope the Lebanese food scene will be featured by many others. I highly recommend going there for lunch with friends/family or enjoying a romantic dinner!
