BARON đź“ŤMAR MIKHAEL

If you are looking for a very exceptional dining experience in Mar Mikhael then this place is for you. Baron, meaning the man of the street in English, takes you on a journey from the inns of the Greek sea to the market halls of Lebanon and the country’s restaurants of the Levant. BARON was awarded Best Restaurant in Lebanon 2022 by “The World’s 50 Best Restaurants” and ranked #12 in the MENA’s 50 Best Restaurants 2022.

Their menu mainly focuses on Mediterranean-Lebanese with a special twist. It comes from the freshest local farmers' markets in Beirut. The restaurant usually goes on a hunt and miraculous adventures in search of passionate and delicious recipes.

The decor is very minimal, yet cozy and what I like the most about this restaurant is the open kitchen. When it comes to the food they serve, you will notice that a lot of attention is paid to vegetables, they have a lot of vegetable starters that are perfect for sharing, for the main courses there are meat and seafood dishes.

From the menu, we tried a variety of different dishes. For starters, we tried the sweet potato gnocchi with homemade bacon it was exquisite, especially the bacon. We also tried the baked carrots with jalapeño - labneh and quinoa were super good, but a bit too pricey for the portion size. The Brussels sprouts with miso butter were alright, but I wouldn’t say it’s a must-order. From the main dishes, Majid ordered the Rib eye steak and I ordered the Sirloin steak. There are different sizes of steaks to choose from, but I don't think there is a size smaller than 250g. Both steaks were out of this world! In case you were wondering, the Rib eye is the one with a little more fat. The spices on the steaks are so amazing that they are served without any sauce on the side! The taste of the meat is just heavenly. It is probably the best steak I've ever tried in Lebanon. There is a great selection of wines and reasonable prices. Since we had steak, we opted for a medium-bodied wine. Our choice was the Aurora red It was excellent!

The service is also very nice! The staff is very attentive and professional, they know the menu well and can help you pair the food with the wine accordingly.

For dessert, we had "The mess" with labneh cream, labneh ice cream, strawberries, caramel, meringue, and a cone that you have to break with a hammer. This is a good dessert to share with a group because it is massive and really good!

I recommend going for a dinner out with friends or for a romantic date night. You can also enjoy celebrating anniversaries or birthdays there!
