EM SHERIF đDOWNTOWN (New Location)
Can you guess who was craving out of this world Lebanese food last week? Yes, thatâs right⌠me! As soon as I arrived in Lebanon, Em Sherif was my first stop.
When you really want to eat delicious local food, you need a restaurant that never disappoints. So, I chose Em Sherif's, which translates to âMother of Sherifâ in Arabic, a new restaurant, located only 300 meters from the old place, but still in the heart of downtown. It is a distinguished oriental restaurant that offers unique and authentic oriental cuisine. It offers its guests an unparalleled first-class dining experience. It is styled to portray an old oriental house, filled with the luxury and personal touch of Em Sherif, as well as a family atmosphere where guests are offered everything that is cooked daily.
The new place is much more spacious and much more comfortable. Both the interior and exterior send out better vibes, maybe it's the space or the way the tables are set up. Em Sherif is a perfect place to try the best Lebanese Mezze, and this is exactly what we did!
We ordered different starters and dishes from their menu. Tabbouleh & fatouffff* Yes, thatâs what I will call this salad since it was perfect! Both salads were extremely fresh, colorful, and flavorful. We got Hummus with meat which was really good, although the fatteh Eggplant was just alright. Their bokjat jibneh was actually superb, unlike the batata harra, it wasnât great. And for the first time ever, I tried mloukhiye bil zeit served as a cold starter, it was pretty interesting. Frakkeh Jnoubiyeh was out of this world! Em Sherif really has one of the most delicious Frakkeh in Beirut, and itâs one of my favorite dishes from the Lebanese cuisine (P.S. I was very surprised that many people have never heard about it)
Frakkeh is a traditional Lebanese dish made of lean meat mixed with fresh kamouneh, bulgur flavored with dry herbs and spices such as cumin seeds, cinnamon and black pepper. Frakkeh is also served with sliced onion. This dish is especially popular in the Jnoub region.
For dessert, we ordered two plates, I like their Ashta w Ghazl Banet, it looks like a Cotton candy. Guests can also enjoy a shisha on the terrace.
Service was just alright this time. Sometimes they forgot what we asked. The only thing I don't like is the limited number of restrooms. There is only one stall for women and one for men, which creates a queue (it's always crowded in the restaurant).
