IXSIR WINERY 📍BATROUN

Alright guys, I think by now you may have noticed that wineries are one of my favorite places to visit in Lebanon. You might also ask me if it is because I love wine? Honestly, my answer would be a definitive yes!

But truthfully, the wineries' mesmerizing views and breathtaking location make me eager to visit.
Of course, you all know about Ixsir and see their wines in most restaurants and stores in Lebanon, but visiting the winery and having lunch there has been on my list forever... and we finally got there.

The restaurant is open from Wednesday to Sunday and serves a la carte lunch on Weekdays and a buffet on Weekends. We visited Ixsir winery on a Wednesday, I didn’t try the buffet, but I know it costs 38$ per person drinks excluded.

When we got there, we started with a wine tour, it's a self-guided tour with a map that explains how wine is stored, fermented, and other nuances. The tour is actually free unless you want to taste all 8 of their different wines.

Unfortunately, I personally didn't learn much about the history of the winery or how they make their local wines, perhaps because we went straight to lunch. We sat under the 180 degrees of florescence.

The food is served by Montagnou and so we tried some of my favorite dishes from their menu. The Fattoush salad was really good, colorful, and fresh. We also tried the smoked duck salad which did not fail to amaze us. It was extremely delicious and rich in flavor. The duck breast casserole was appetising and the sauce served with it was tasty but a bit heavy although it is not served with a side dish. Their half-grilled marinated chicken was juicy and seasoned to perfection.

We enjoyed lunch with a bottle of their Rose grand reserves. It's really good and the price is great compared to the price of this bottle in other restaurants.

It is both kid and pet friendly, and there is a playground for children to enjoy.

One thing I didn't like was that they closed very early, the kitchen closed at 4 P.M. and we were forced to leave, even though we wanted to stay a little longer and would have loved to see the sunset from there. I recommend going there with friends, and family or enjoying a romantic lunch. For an average of 25$ per person.
