KAMPAI OR THE BEST SUSHI 📍 BEIRUT
I had to try Kampai for the tenth time, just to make sure it's still my favorite sushi restaurant in Beirut.
I love starting with Kampai's green salad. It has so many greens: spinach + avocado + broccoli + edamame and it's dressed with Yuzu dressing. I also love their steamed edamame with salt and the Zukury salmon as an appetizer. The soups are also delicious! We tried the Tom Yum with shrimp, squid, and mussels. It's very tasty and a bit spicy. The only downside is that the portion is not very big. Then comes the sushi. Personally, I think the simpler the rolls, the better... all that mayo, tempura, and crispy stuff, it's not my thing.
Anyway, I love their sashimi and simple Hoso Maki. I usually go for the salmon/tuna or the spicy salmon.
From their special roles, these are the ones I love:
-Selfie Maki
-Fresh Salmon
-Spicy Salmon roll
-Red Snow
-Spicy Scallop roll
Their shrimp fried rice is also very good. The quality of the sushi is always good, the sushi is very fresh and the portions are big.
For dessert, I always opt for the MOCHI green tea and the melon flavors are my favorite. The price is high.
I've never sat inside; I've always chosen the terrace. Even in winter, since it is pet-friendly! They put heaters on the terrace, so it's always nice.
Modern and sleek décor, matches the nice downtown setting around. Service is always pleasant. The staff is friendly. Food arrives quickly.
I recommend going there for lunch, dinner with friends or for a romantic date!
