ARTHAUS 📍 GEMMAYZE
A hidden, beautiful boutique hotel and at the same time an art gallery with a great restaurant and an amazing garden in Gemmayze. This is a beautiful Lebanese house that was completely demolished in the Beirut explosion and has been renovated to perfection. Arthaus features a boutique hotel, a stylish lobby, an art gallery, a restaurant, a seasonal outdoor pool, a bar and a garden in Beirut. The place is extremely authentic and you will find very special pieces of art all around the place.
We did not stay at the hotel but visited the place several times for dinner. You can choose to sit in the lovely garden in the summer or inside where you feel like you are dining in an art gallery. I first visited the Arthaus restaurant in April and honestly, my experience was not as satisfying. The duck as a main course was just okay, the prices were way too high at the time and the service was not top-notch. This week I decided to give it another shot, and the experience was much better.
First of all, I was impressed that the prices from April to September didn't change much. So actually, the prices became more reasonable compared to other places. We had dinner in the garden, right next to the pool. The atmosphere was extremely romantic and magical. I absolutely loved the ambiance, the lighting and the crowd. Although there was no music at all at the beginning and it was too quiet, but later they put on some low music.
We tried several dishes from their menu. We first ordered the beetroot quinoa salad which was extremely fresh, flavorful, and colorful! We also absolutely loved the bresaola salad, a must-order starter. For the main course, we had the spaghetti tomato basil which was good but pretty basic, their pasta mains are very limited; they did not have Bolognese on their menu! But what out of this world was their mushroom risotto; it is really worth a try. It was rich in flavor and extremely mouthwatering. For me, they are very generous with their portions and their service is great but sadly their menu is limited.
Overall, it is really a splendid place for a romantic outing! I recommend having dinner with your friends or enjoying a romantic date night with your partner.
