BEIT KANZ 📍SURSOCK
Beit Kanz is located in a sublime building on Sursock Street - renovated by the architectural wing of Beit el-Baraka after the double explosion on August 4 - This heritage site, shaded by jasmine and citrus trees, dates from 1880 to 1940.
When I first walked in the newly renovated restaurant, I felt an extreme heart-warming feeling. They managed to bring this house back to life and to highlight the authentic Lebanese style, distinctively the interior details, after it was roughly demolished.
Beit Kanz offers you to sit outside on the garden terrace or inside the house where you can enjoy your coffee or tea with delicious Lebanese dishes and desserts, for an average of 13$ per person.
The Beit Kanz menu celebrates Lebanon's ancestral culinary heritage by describing the historical context of each seasonal dish on its menu.
We tried their fattoush, it was rich in colors, flavors and delights (3$). I definitely recommend you order their pumpkin kibbeh which was extremely delicious and mouthwatering (4.5$). What I really loved was their traditional appetizing koussa b laban (4.5$). Although it was leaning towards dryness instead of juiciness, their kafta with hummus and fries was A-okay (10$).
We also got to check out their Gourmet Shop. It presents the full range of Kanz ethical products which are handcrafted using seasonal and natural ingredients grown locally.
I love how Kanz brings together the food, traditions and skills that weave the Lebanese culture.
Beit Kanz went straight to my heart with its beautiful location, authentic interior, attentive service and delicious food. It is certainly distinguished by its clean atmosphere, attention to detail and extravagant odors. I suggest you go there for a coffee meeting, lunch/dinner with friends!
