KALILA 📍 DOWNTOWN
Yesterday we went to Kalila for lunch, we were in the mood for Lebanese food but we wanted to go somewhere we had not previously been.
Kalila is located in the city center, the interior is awe-inspiring and elegant. The place is very spacious, there is indoor seating and an outdoor terrace if the weather is nice.
Kalila’s menu mainly focuses on Lebanese food, and we ordered several dishes! We started off with the famous tabbouleh which I unquestionably loved, and we also had the Kalila salad which was okay!
We then ordered some mezze dishes like hummus with soujouk, it was really good and extremely rich in flavor. We also had the frake, it was a little bit dry, but I enjoyed the dish. The beetroot moshallal was my absolute favorite because we eat this dish in Russia too! Their muhammara had certain spices which I did not like at all, but I really like the balila, it was yummy. And the last starter we ordered was their crispy cheese rolls. For the main course, we had their organic grilled chicken, unfortunately, it was lacking flavor.
For dessert, we had mafroykit el chef it was just wow, a truly must-try.
Shisha is available also.
Overall, we enjoyed our lunch, and some of the dishes were really good. I loved the colorful presentation, and some could still be improved. I didn't visit this place earlier because some of the menu items were still missing, but it seems that now they have worked on it. I loved the mezze dishes and I loved that they had some special items that you won't find in other Lebanese restaurants. And of course, the tea won my heart.
The place wasn't crowded, so the service was attentive and they have plenty of staff, but I still think for the prime downtown location, the staff needs a little more training. I definitely recommend going there for lunch or dinner with family or friends.
