MAKAN 📍MAR MIKHAEL
Located at the end of Mar Mikhael, this hidden restaurant offers cozy domestic vibes and a gorgeous green terrace as well as Asian cuisine. There's a mix of Indian, Thai, and Vietnamese dishes.
The place is open for lunch and dinner, and on weekends they offer formula. When we tried the formula, it wasn't bad, but it's not something I would want to go back for. Some of the dishes were good, others were very average. The formula includes 8 dishes.
Last Monday we went for lunch and order dishes a la carte, and this experience was much better.
We tried several dishes. We started off with the Bang Bang cabbage salad, it was very good, I loved the peanut sauce! We also tried their signature season salad, which was a good green salad, it honest;y reminded me of Fattoush. Then we ordered chicken satay, super good and juicy chicken served with a delicious Tahini sauce. Unlike their green Thai curry, I really don’t recommend this, it was very plain.
Their masala shrimp was really well seasoned with nice spices and was rich in flavor, and the shrimp was very fresh. You should ask for Basmati rice, it is better than Jasmin rice.
Also, I recommend their homemade lemonade for a drink, it was very refreshing. They also serve really good vegetarian dishes, and the fresh bread with garlic is just perfect.
Overall, I think it's a nice place with excellent Asian food, but I personally prefer to go to the a la carte menu, rather than the formula, because their food is not consistent, one day it can be really good and one day not so good.
